The Origins
Founded in 2010, NUALA Wines is the vision of French entrepreneurs with decades of experience in the world of wine. they were drawn to the pristine landscapes and exceptional terroirs of New Zealand, they set out to craft wines that reflect both tradition and place—elegant, expressive, and unmistakably unique.
Our journey began in the heart of the Marlborough Valley, a region celebrated for its vibrant, world-class Sauvignon Blanc. It was here that we saw the recognized raw potential of the land, and refining our style over several dedicated vintages, NUALA Sauvignon Blanc emerged—a crisp, mineral-driven wine that has since found success in markets around the world.
In 2023, we expanded our offering with a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, part of our Reserve range, showcasing a more textured and layered expression of Marlborough’s signature varietal.
As our passion for New Zealand’s terroirs grew, so did our collection. We introduced a silky Pinot Noir and a bright, pure Riesling, both sourced from the high-altitude vineyards of Central Otago. A few years later, we began production of our Reserve Pinot Noir from Bannockburn sub-region, adding depth and complexity to our red wine range.
Our identity is rooted in the land itself. The Ammonite fossil that graces our label is more than a symbol—it's a tribute to the ancient soils that give life to our vines. This intricate shell, petrified over millennia, reflects the beautiful minerality, crisp freshness, and timeless character that define every bottle of NUALA.

At NUALA, wine has always been more than a beverage—it's a companion to great food and memorable experiences. From day one, our focus has been on crafting gastronomic wines—elegant, expressive, and made to shine at the table.
Rooted in our “French Touch,” every wine in the NUALA range is guided by a refined approach that emphasizes freshness, balance, and a vibrant acidity—qualities that make our wines not just enjoyable, but food-loving by nature.
We believe wine finds its full expression when paired with fine cuisine, and we’re proud to see NUALA featured in some of the world’s most respected restaurants. That ongoing trust from chefs and sommeliers is the most rewarding recognition of all.
Our vision is brought to life by Paul Martung, a Bordeaux-born winemaker who grew up among the vines at Château Barreyre, his family’s estate. After honing his craft in prestigious wineries across France and Portugal, Paul moved to Australia, where he settled for nearly a decade. There, he deepened his experience working with Sparkling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling—embracing the dynamic energy of the New World.
Now based in New Zealand, Paul brings together a deep European heritage and a global perspective, infusing every NUALA wine with both classic finesse and contemporary vibrancy.
